    New Computer

Just bought a Win 10 computer. My 9 year old Win 7 is still working well. I plan to keep it going for old programmes. I have reinstalled PS CS5 {this is the version I am using and do not plan to upgrade} to the new computer. Way back in 2008 I used Barry's video tutorials to set up Bridge. I know how to transfer files and folders etc. But how do I transfer Bridge from Win 7 with all of my keywords and collections to the Win10 computer. I'm sure there must be a way using a memory stick, I just need to know which files I need to copy. Mairi

    Oil Paint filter

Thanks Barry, I checked the CS5 reference for Oil Paint Effect and discovered it was contained in Pixel Blender. You pointed me in the right direction. Thanks again Mairi

    Oil Paint filter

I don't know! I read that the oil paint filter was part of PS CS6 I am following a You Tube tutorial. I am stopped at the point in the instructions-- Filter -- Stylize then select-- Oil Paint, but it is not included in CS5 Mairi

    August 2018 Newsletter + Videos

Hello Barry, No question, I found the info I needed on the old disk. I had missed one simple step of closing the image before I saved the Action. I think I was just trying to say basic info you provided way back in 2004 still applies. Mairi

    August 2018 Newsletter + Videos

Hello Barry, Enjoyed your August [ respected and impressive ] newsletter. I enjoy using PTE and reading your newsletter always encourages me to try something new. My latest idea required I make a new Action. My rusty brain was having trouble interpreting my very old notes on making an Action. My index advised me the info came from one of your DVD disks. I have all of the disks catalogued and in a binder so it was easy to locate. This one is very old Tips & Tricks & Fun Stuff Volume 1.Produced 2004. I know you covered Actions again on a later disk but this oldie answered my question. Thanks for the link to your You Tube Channel. I know it will be most informative. Mairi

My mistake. It is SMUGMUG. Funny name but makes more sense than the name I quoted. Mairi

Downloading a video converter is a minefield. Does anyone have the name of a safe converter download? Mairi

    DVD

Hello Barry, I have saved the DVD files They are VOB format. If I open with W Movie Maker it only open 4 sec of the file. I am using CS5 and I can't open the file there . I guess if I convert from VOB to another video format I will be able to open in PTE which is where I want to use a short clip. I don't have a video convertor , I will have to search for one. Thanks for your help. Mairi

    DVD

Thank you Barry I understand exactly what you are saying. Other disks I have given to friends have been made via PTE options. These latest ones I simply copied the MP4 file onto the disk. I will revert to the former method and this should solve the problem. I can't keep up with the technology. I'm trying something new today, I'm making a slide show for a celebration of life. I want to include a short video to be taken from a DVD-R . This video was filmed at our local TV studio in the VHS era and I transferred it to DVD. I am going to try to capture the clip by playing it on a large TV and filming it with one of my cameras. So there are many film speeds involved, it is an experiment. If my idea does not work, do you have any suggestions on how I could take a video segment from a DVD to include in a PTE slide show? Mairi

    DVD

Not sure what this means. Is it something included when the machine is manufactured or is it something an owner can reset? Mairi

    DVD

Can anyone explain why an MP4 file burned to a DVD using Win 7 will play on both of my DVD players, a Sony and an LG, but will not play on friends DVD players? They both have Sony players. This is a mystery to me. Mairi
